The second celebrity chef head I sculpted for the Barneys NY “Have a Foodie Holiday” themed windows was the superstar sweetheart Paula Deen! Paula’s head needed to be quite a bit larger than Martha Stewart, the first head I had sculpted, so I was excited and terrified at the same time. This meant experimenting with even more new materials, creating a much larger head that still had to be as light as possible. Once I got past the technical issues, sculpting Paula’s likeness was a piece of cake (with lots of butter on it)! She’s already got such a wonderful face full of animated expressions so it was a joy to sculpt her and an even bigger thrill to meet her at the Barneys unveiling of the windows party! She couldn’t have been sweeter and she totally loved her head! (you can watch her reaction here).
