Process
Liz illustrates using a unique process she developed herself over ten years as a professional.
She begins with a sketch. Once approved by the client, Liz starts sculpting the characters and constructing environments.
She uses a wire armature underneath the figures, then packs tinfoil and Super Sculpey on top. She renders the Sculpey into the desired character or likeness using clay-shapers and builds the sets from insulation foam. Liz sends the client in-progress photos for any amends or further direction, then bakes and paints the sculptures using acrylic and oil paint.
Next, she photographs the piece digitally and manipulates the image in Photoshop. Once the final is approved she uploads the hi-resolution digital image to her website and emails the client a link from where they can download the finished artwork, making it easy to work with Liz from anywhere in the world!
This speedy process allows her to compete with the demands of illustration and photographic assignments of all sizes. The end result is a beautiful illustration done within the time frame and budgetary constraints of the client.
