Description

Yesterday the kind folks at Major League Baseball sent me a few of the official 2009 World Series Programs in which my sculpted baseball players appear. Page 245 onward is a look back on key players from past World Series. I was commissioned to sculpt Babe Adams who played an important role in the 1909 World Series, Paul Dean from 1934, Mickey Lolich from 1968, Kirby Puckett from 1991, Craig Counsell from 1997 and Curt Schilling (with a bloody sock) from 2004. It was a really fun assignment and another chance to learn something new. I know my dad was happy about it as his love of baseball is beyond our comprehension… he was named Charles after his godfather Casey Stengel, former Yankees manager and had another former Yankees player Buddy Hassett as his other godfather. And to top it all off he was taught how to play baseball by Babe Ruth himself!
